Our mission is to make payments safer and easier for everyone. We started with a consumer product (privacy.com) that helps people spend more safely using virtual payment cards. Then we launched a simple, modern API to make our payment and card issuing infrastructure available to other startups, fintechs, and brands. Today, that infrastructure is known as Lithic, and it powers billions of dollars in payments for some of the most innovative companies in the world.

Lithic is a remote-first company and has a distributed team with an office in New York. We’ve raised $100M+ from top-tier investors including Index, Bessemer, Stripes, and Tusk Venture Partners, with a recent Series C that will help us scale.

Our Head of Sales will drive the rapid acceleration of product adoption and growth, build and develop a world-class sales team, meet customer acquisition and revenue targets, and continue to build on the Lithic brand. We are looking for a leader who can help build an industry-changing company with passion, humility, drive, maturity, and impeccable business acumen.

Job responsibilities:

  • Provide proactive leadership:
    • Lead the creation and evolution of strategies to penetrate target markets and expand the business.
    • Define and reinforce the operating culture through leadership by example.
    • Be Lithic’s primary sales leader, actively engaging with customers and strategic partners.
  • Create and implement the appropriate sales infrastructure:
    • Develop/implement operational processes and discipline to create a strong sales pipeline/backlog profile.
    • Prepare necessary sales execution plans including revenue forecasts, personnel, capital expenditures, and operating costs.
    • Architect a highly scalable sales motion to efficiently close deals & accelerate customer growth.
  • Be accountable for results:
    • Take responsibility for meeting/exceeding agreed-upon sales targets.
    • Be present to help close important deals. Structure and negotiate deal terms.
    • Establish tangible goals and priorities. Create the focal points for measuring performance.
    • Provide sales training and actively mentor the sales team.
  • Contribute to company management:
    • Communicate market feedback and product needs to the rest of the organization.
    • Partner with Marketing on customer targeting, outbound campaigns, and optimizing conversion rates at every funnel stage
    • Sales is part of the fabric of the company. Develop and cultivate essential working relationships between sales, marketing, customer success, and product.
    • Ensure that Lithic is consistently delivering to customer needs and expectations.


  • Proven ability to scale an organization and rapidly ramp sales
  • Built sales infrastructure and operations in a high-growth environment from $10-100M+ (lead generation programs; pipeline management; contract development; comp plans)
  • Inspirational and empathetic leader who is passionate about career development
  • Operational rigor; strong sales philosophy, developing metrics and quotas, and holding teams accountable
  • Change management; willingness to get into the trenches with team members to understand fundamental needs of the business, then developing strategy and execution to uplevel current processes
  • Strong cross-functional partner; proven experience collaborating across business units to align on business needs.
  • An evangelist; personal passion and fervor for industry-leading next-generation technology.
  • The culture at Lithic is data-driven. Our Head of Sales must be comfortable operating within a structured analytical organization.
