About Us

Today, there is a massive gap at the heart of the electronic payments infrastructure: there is no way to pay someone and be sure you’re paying the right person. This situation is disastrous and unsustainable. All push payments (for example, wires, crypto, RTP) are at risk of impersonation fraud, and CFOs are rightly terrified. They are trying to stave off calamity with manual processes that are simultaneously arduous and inadequate. Beyond $billions annually in losses, concern about impersonation fraud is impeding adoption of new payment rails.

The mission of Walrus is to enable ubiquitous authenticated transactions. Our first product has created a new category: it verifies the safe transfer of financial information and assets. It uses innovative technology that combines AI, proprietary authentication, and a novel UX. The customer base is growing exponentially, and user feedback is ridiculously positive.

Our team has broad and deep technical foundations, with decades of experience in engineering, cybersecurity, and cryptography, and many research accomplishments at Harvard, Stanford, MIT, the University of Chicago, Columbia, and NYU. We have a strong company culture based on collaboration, ownership, and mentoring. We understand our innate biases and celebrate diversity. You will own your projects, work closely with the leadership team, and have room for extensive growth within the company.

The Role

You will be the first operations hire in a fast-growing company. Operations is a critical aspect of our business. Initially, your role will be very hands-on. As we grow, you will help shape the team and its processes. You will:

  • Handle financial operations, for example reviewing payment instructions flagged for errors.

  • Ensure the success of existing, paying customers, for example by responding to advanced questions, and creating tutorials.

  • Establish infrastructure, for example setting up automatic billing.

  • Collect, organize, and synthesize customer feedback about the product, to feed into product design.

About You

  • 2+ years’ work experience in financial operations.

  • Bachelors degree (in any subject) preferred but not necessary.

  • Focused and independent.

  • Fanatically attentive to detail.

  • Crystal-clear in written communication.

  • “Data-driven”, able to notice patterns and synthesize analytics data into product feedback.

  • Friendly, and enjoy helping customers who are having trouble.

  • Passionate about fixing a widespread societal problem.

  • Living in the NYC metro area or willing to relocate.

The Bottom Line

We have a fantastic team with deep expertise, leading investors, a product that our customers love, and significant traction (600% annualized revenue growth). We’re looking for a candidate who wants to join early and play an important role in revolutionizing the $100T payments space.

Walrus offers competitive compensation and benefits, including salary, equity, paid health insurance, partial coverage for dependents, and retirement. We believe talent comes from all backgrounds and walks of life, and are committed to providing a comfortable environment for everyone to work.
